“The Reason” in Season (and Out)

“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season.  Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 This time of year, many people are proclaiming their take on what the “reason for the season” truly is. Whatever your opinion, Paul’s words to Timothy remind us that WE must be ready in all seasons to bring the word effectively. He further instructs his young disciple, “Be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” As Christians around the globe celebrate the birth of Jesus, all of us who call him “Lord” need to consider what OUR ministry truly is. Where do we fit into the Body of Messiah? What special message has our Maker given us that we are to evangelize? Thankfully, I’ve found my specific calling….and it’s to help other Believers walk in theirs. Now, as I work as a professional business coach, hiring me to consult with you one-on-one is a pretty pricey investment. (An excellent investment, I must add, but not for everybody.) I want to help everyone in his or her Kingdom calling, but since there aren’t enough hours in the day (or in my life) to do that, I decided to develop and offer super-affordable group coaching.   Well, I just finished taking our first class of students through this 12-week “Share Your Voice” Kingdom Business Course, and it’s being rereleased on January 1st. If you are not yet sure what your calling is, or are feeling stuck, or unequipped, please consider joining me and other Kingdom-minded Believers for this transformative coaching and...

Get Out of the Toilet Vortex

I’m generally a positive person, but sometimes we need to take a trip to “the dark side” and honestly deal with what’s holding us back from walking in the Almighty’s specific plan for our lives. Yes, it can be ugly, scary, disappointing, demotivating, and leave us very vulnerable….but the alternative is to keep operating in the lie, either consciously, or unconsciously….and that is not just a dead-end road, it’s a killer-vortex of a downward spiral right down the toilet to nowhere you want to be!! So, let’s take hold of the fact that the past does not have to equal the present and future, and it won’t…if we purpose that it won’t, and allow the Holy Spirit to have His way. So, let’s get transparent, confess these sins that keep us from being obedient to our Master, and let them die in the His amazing Light! I’ll start…. I hold on to a fear of failure, which causes me to procrastinate when I’m supposed to be getting the most important things on my list done. To assist this life-wasting attitude, I’ve gotten myself addicted to checking emails and social media (yes, addicted to the dopamine rush) to see if something “important” is coming my way, so I can justify not getting to what will move me forward to the place God wants me to go. I renounce this horrible time-sucking habit in the name of Y’shua (Jesus), and commit to be a better steward of this amazing day He gave me — the moment I stop writing this blog post…. Hey, wait a minute!!  What am I even doing...

Loss of a Great Kingdom Leader

Yesterday, we just lost a great Kingdom leader who encouraged us to be Kingdom leaders. If Dr. Myles Munroe had the chance to explain to us his own death at the young age of 60, I believe he would say that he must have “completed his purpose”, and now we must carry on without him: CLICK HERE for article Thank you Dr. Munroe for your faithfulness!...

User Groups Will Save Your Tush

Question   Hey Chaim, I am on a Widows 8 system. I have a JVC HD SD Memory Camera and when i transfer the video it goes into iTunes. From iTunes I try to edit the m4v file with windows video maker. But windows video maker can’t recognize the file. How do I solve this issue. Thanks Brad. My quick answer is: Get a Mac! OK, so maybe I’m not the “Video Production Oracle” that I like to consider myself, but I think that’s a darn good answer anyway! Seriously though, what you are asking is a very specific technical question about what seems to be glitch with a specific combination of hardware and software, and this is when all video pros turn to internet user groups. (As an Avid non-linear editor, we tap into a 20-year experience base of hundreds of thousands of Avid editors right from our desktop whenever we get stumped with one of these tech anomalies that just suck.) So, have you tried tapping into the community of “Windows 8 OS, Windows Movie Video Maker, JVC HD Memory Card Camera” users by either Googling the keywords of your problem, or finding related user groups and doing a keyword search inside them? If not, then this is your best shot. If so, but you’ve found no relief, keep trying. And if all else fails, go back and take my original advice at the top of this post. You’ll be glad you did! Happy hunting! Oh, and for those of you unfamiliar with the lovely Yiddish word “Tush” (or “Tuccas”), I’m not referring to the ZZ Top...

Finding Stock Music & Images for Use In Your Videos

When creating videos, you may wish to include some music, photos, and/or video images without having to create them yourself. If so, you’ve probably been searching the web for them, and wondering how legal it is to use the works of others in your production.   Google and other search engines have added filters (Search Tools -> Usage Right) that will only allow you to see photos that expressly allow reuse in commercial or non-commercial settings.  (More on that below when I discuss “Creative Commons”.)   Unfortunately, this will filter out like 99.9% of the photos Google indexes; not so much because their owners would have an issue with you using their image, but because they did not go out of their way to tag their photo with that permission.   Officially, you are supposed to have some level of permission for any image you use. When it comes to blogging, that rule is mostly ignored, and could arguably fall under the “Fair Use”/Educational copyright laws. BUT…that doesn’t mean you are legally covered. If you are using the images commercially, then you would be in violation. And if your blog starts getting popular, then you could find yourself with a cease-and-desist letter, or a law suit. (Please note, I am not an expert in these matters, and am only sharing my limited knowledge and opinion. Please consult with a professional on this subject to make sure you are in compliance.)   So, where does that leave you in trying to find a great image, video, and/or music to complement your work?   First of all, don’t confuse “royalty free” with...
